Finding The Cheapest Credit Cards

Finding the cheapest credit cards on the market is simply a matter of doing your research. And I suppose it also depends upon how you define the word cheapest.

For most people it simply means finding the credit cards with the lowest interest rates. Of course we also must factor in fees as well because they most definitely are a part of the cost we pay for credit.

Finding cheap credit cards is rather easy when you do your search on a reputable credit card comparison website. The very finest websites will have a category devoted specifically to balance transfer credit cards.

That makes it very, very easy and convenient to compare similar offers from the major banks and financial institutions.

All of the major credit card issuers including American Express, Discover, Visa and MasterCard offer credit cards with low interest rates and low or no annual fees. There is a catch however, in order to be approved for these offers. Applicants must have a very good to outstanding credit history.

Because of the recession and a record high number of defaults the credit card issuers have become much more stringent with their lending policies. They got themselves into quite a bit of trouble by issuing credit cards to people with, how shall I put this, less than stellar credit histories.

In fact, one of the major reasons we were in the financial mess that we were in was due to the fact that lenders were issuing both mortgages and credit cards to people with subprime credit ratings. What they thought was easy money actually turned into a quagmire for the majority of these companies. But I digress.

In order to find the cheapest credit cards we have established that we must have an excellent credit rating. One way to improve your credit score is by actually getting a credit report and reviewing it carefully looking for any mistakes and or erroneous information that may be on it.

People would be surprised at how many mistakes there actually are on their credit reports. And in the vast majority of cases this errant information results in a lower credit score.

And make no mistake about it, the terms you will get on any form of credit whether it be credit cards, a mortgage, auto loan or a personal loan is predicated on your credit rating.

When we talk about cheap credit cards we also must take into account any and all fees. You can find a credit card with an incredibly low interest rate but those savings can in effect be wiped out when you are paying high fees.

It’s a balancing act but in the end by doing your research before you apply you will have no problem finding cheap credit cards.
