Credit Card Applications – What You Should Know
Filling out and submitting credit card applications is pretty much a straight forward process. However, there are some important things that the applicant must know before they apply.
First off, there are two types of credit card applications. The first is the one that we older folks are most familiar with and that is the paper application that comes with the credit card solicitations that we get in the mail.
The second is an electronic application that you fill out online. You need a computer with an Internet connection in order to send this type of application to the corresponding credit card company.
Of the two methods, I very much prefer submitting credit card applications through the Internet. The reason for this is because it is much more secure than sending your personal information through the mail.
Just think about it for a second. Isn’t it incredibly easy to rip open a paper envelope and ascertain someone’s personal information? Of course it is. And I am sorry to say that it happens far more frequently than we are made aware of.
Using the Internet to send your personal information on the credit card application is far safer. The information you provide is encrypted with code that even the most talented hacker would have a very hard time deciphering.
Not only is it more secure, but it is much more efficient. Some credit card companies including American Express and Discover actually offer instant approval on some of their credit cards when people apply online.
They can do this because the information provided on the application is sent through several databases where it is checked and verified. If you meet the criteria for approval, which is a good to excellent credit rating, you will be notified that you have been approved right on your computer screen.
The truth is that instant approval credit cards aren’t technically instant, but rather take about 60 seconds or so for the data to be sorted out and for the program to decide if the applicant meets the credit requirements. But 60 seconds isn’t long at all is it?
A quality credit card comparison website will allow you to quickly and easily sort through the types of cards that interest you. From there you simply need to click on a link provided and you will have access to the credit card applications.
