Credit Card Companies Offer Help To Cardholders In Debt
Some of the biggest players in the credit card industry are now reaching out to consumers in debt in an effort to work with them. A new campaign called “Help With My Credit” has been launched by a group of card issuers including Capital One, Discover Card, Citibank, Visa and MasterCard.
The campaign is designed to stave off default for account holders that carry large balances and are having a tough time paying their bills.
The credit card companies want cardholder’s that are facing hard times financially to know that they are willing to work with them. After all, it most certainly is not in the best interest of the credit card companies if their cardholders default on what they owe.
The spokesman for the new program, Joe Ganley stated “We want to make sure people understand the assistance and options that are available.”
To that end the consortium of credit card issuers has set up a web site and toll free number that cardholders can call to get assistance.
When calling the toll free number the caller will be transferred to a customer service rep that works for their card issuer. If the caller has multiple credit cards with balances that they are having a hard time paying they will be referred to credit counselors in their area.
Upon calling the toll free number cardholders will have the opportunity to negotiate lower fees or extended payment plans. There is really no hard and fast rules to what can and cannot be done because everyone’s situation is different.
We here at www.bestcreditquote.com salute the credit card companies for their willingness to be flexible with their customers and work with them to avoid default. It is a proactive move that should be beneficial for all involved.
